What is link reclamation, and what is it not?
Link reclamation is recovering a citation you already earned and then lost — or never quite received. The common objects are a 404 on a URL other people still link to, a redirect you broke, a site move that dropped hrefs, and a journalist who named you without a followed link. The work is identification, a fix you control, and sometimes a polite ask. It is not a new referring-domain campaign dressed up as housekeeping.
It is not an English guest-post SKU. GR4D2J through EN1PXR buy a new article on a host we pitch. Reclamation is often a redirect, a restored page, or a short email to an editor who already wrote the sentence. We will not relabel that email as DR40+ at $250. We will not invent a reclamation package, a per-URL menu, or a success percentage. If you need new editorial inventory, that is guest posts on the published card. If you need a mention pitched as coverage, that is digital PR — quoted, Enquire Now.
Unlinked brand mentions are the overlap people mash into “reclamation.” Sometimes the honest job is asking for a href. Sometimes the honest job is logging the mention and leaving it. Unlinked mentions is the companion page for that object. Brand mentions vs backlinks is the artefact split. This page stays on lost URLs, 404s, and when we will quote outreach instead of sending you to a cart.
How do you reclaim a 404 or a moved URL?
Export links Search Console already knows about. Crawl your own site. Diff the URLs that still collect hits or referring domains against the URLs that now 404. Restore the page if it still deserves to exist. Redirect it if the topic moved. Fix the internal links that still point at the hole. That sequence is yours. It does not require a vendor login and it does not require a Worldwide Backlinks SKU.
Then look at the remaining third-party hrefs that still 404. A webmaster who linked to a useful resource will often update the path if you send the new URL and a civil note. Many will not. Some sites are dead. Some are farms that will never reply. Do not turn a 404 list into a blast. Do not pay a desk to “reclaim” a slot-shop href you should have been glad to lose. How to vet a guest-post site still applies: if you would not want the host today, do not spend the week chasing its webmaster.
Site moves are where teams lose the most value they already paid for. A missing redirect map is not a link-building emergency. It is a migration bug. Fix the map before you buy more referring domains. A guest post pointing at a URL that 404s is a wasted fee — typical TAT about two weeks, 20-day maximum, replacement if the live host link drops, none of which repairs your own 404. We will ask for the destination. If it errors, we will not pitch.
When is an unlinked brand mention worth a pitch?
When the page is a real publication, the mention is already accurate, and a followed or honestly marked href would help a URL you care about. A newsroom that named you in a round-up is a different object from a directory scrape that printed the legal name. The first can be worth a short, specific ask. The second is usually a waste. Unlinked mentions is the longer mention lecture. Digital PR is the desk if the original coverage still needs a story attached.
Unlinked mentions can still help entity recognition and brand SERPs without a href. We do not relabel a name-check as a backlink on a report. We do not claim they rank you in ChatGPT. If the brief is “turn every mention into a dofollow,” we will refuse the volume version of that sentence. Editors who already chose not to link often had a reason. Asking once, with the exact paragraph and the exact destination, is professional. Asking weekly is how you get ignored and how vendors invent a reclaim-quota SKU.
NAP citations are a third mention type: name, address, phone on a listing. Do not confuse a chamber row with a journalist name-check. Citations vs backlinks is that split. Directories stay Enquire Now. We will not run a citation cleanup as “link reclamation” on an invoice.
Why is this usually in-house first?
Because the highest-value fixes are redirects, restored pages, and internal hrefs you can ship without waiting for a stranger. A vendor cannot 301 your old blog platform for you unless you handed them the CMS — and we will not take that login as a productized reclamation retainer. Hire a developer for the map. Use Search Console for the export. Use your crawl for the orphans. Then decide whether any remaining third-party asks are worth quoting.
In-house also keeps you honest about which lost links were worth keeping. A dropped farm URL is not an emergency. A dropped editorial URL on a trafficked host is worth a replacement conversation with the original vendor or a new placement on a comparable host. If we placed the original guest post and it dropped, that is a replacement on the published card — same language and traffic class — not a reclamation SKU. If someone else placed a junk blog, we will not “reclaim” it. We will quote a real host if the destination is ready.
Teams buy reclamation retainers when they want a slide that says they did something. The useful slide is “we redirected 40 URLs and asked six editors.” We will not write the theatre version. Founded 2022, Richmond VIC. Teams in Australia, Singapore, and the Philippines. 10,000+ placements, 15+ languages, 100% manual. That muscle is outreach. It is not a crawl subscription we will invoice monthly as housekeeping.
When do we quote outreach instead of an English GP SKU?
When the page already exists, the mention or the old href already exists, and the job is a conversation with that webmaster or journalist — not a new contributed article. That outreach is quoted. There is no English guest-post SKU for it. There is no public Worldwide Backlinks dollar figure for digital PR, and we will not invent one for “reclaim emails.” Enquire Now on the quote form set to Digital PR. We will say if the list is placeable or if you should stay in-house.
When you actually need new inventory, use the guest-post table. English bands stay $125 / $175 / $250 / $275 / $450. Dual path lives on those pages: order DR40+ at $250 or quote a mix. This reclamation URL stays Enquire Now on purpose. Niche edits from $99 are still a new insert on a live third-party page, quote-only — useful when the “reclaim” fantasy was really “get us onto a resource that never mentioned us.” That is not reclamation. That is a niche edit. Call it that.
International reclaim asks need a native note, not an English template on a .fr webmaster. International guest posts start at $175 when you want a new contributor link in another language. A reclaim email in the wrong language is how you get deleted. iGaming from $180 is a commercial desk, quote-only, not a way to reclaim gambling blogs you should have dropped. Adult, CBD, and crypto stay Enquire Now. Wikipedia stays Enquire Now. None of those inherit a reclamation menu.
How does digital PR sit next to reclamation?
Digital PR creates a reason for a stranger to name you now: a dataset, a spokesperson, a resource. Reclamation asks about a sentence they already published. Both can produce a mention or a link. They are not the same brief. If you have no prior mention and no 404, you do not have a reclamation job. You have a PR brief or a guest-post brief. Digital PR vs link building is the door choice.
HARO is now Connectively. Query responses can sit inside a digital-PR brief when the angle fits. We do not sell a separate HARO package, a guaranteed named-outlet hit, or a /haro doorway. We do not sell “mention reclamation” as a Connectively quota. Journalists ghost. There is no 20-day maximum we can enforce on an editor who did not agree to be a vendor. That is why this page and the PR desk stay quoted.
Independent coverage is also the raw material Wikipedia reviewers respect. Paid contributor posts usually do not count toward notability. Reclaiming a sponsored post that died is not a wiki strategy. If the source pile is newspapers and regulator filings, a Wikipedia brief can be honest — Enquire Now on its own desk. If the pile is your website and three dropped guest posts, we will tell you to stop.
What will we not reclaim?
Farms. PBNs. Footer dumps. Comment spam. Directories you never wanted. Marketplace blogs that sold the same URL to everyone in your SERP. A competitor smear of junk. If the host would fail how to buy backlinks safely today, we will not spend outreach to put the href back. Losing a bad link is hygiene. It is not a lost asset.
We will not reclaim a URL so you can keep an exact-match money anchor that should have been branded. We will not reclaim a hard-niche href onto leftover English inventory. We will not run a monthly “reclamation retainer” that is actually a blast tool. The monthly guest-post desk ($1,500, SKU 2R60XR) is scoped placements, not a reclaim quota. White-label does not add a reclaim SKU. Same public rules. Same refusal.
We will not invent a recovery percentage. We will not promise that a 404 fix moves rankings in twenty days. How long for backlinks to work is the clock lecture for new placements. Reclamation has no published ranking clock. Search Console and the live SERP tell you whether the destination is healthy. A vendor PDF of “reclaimed links” does not.
How should you brief a reclamation quote?
Send the lost URLs, the new destinations, and proof the old href existed — Search Console, a crawl, a screenshot of the live sentence. Say whether you already redirected. Say which hosts you will not touch. If the list is mostly 404s on your own domain, we will send you back in-house. If the list is unlinked mentions on real publications, we will say whether a pitch is worth quoting or whether you should log them and buy guest posts instead.
Say the vertical. Casino and sportsbook stay on iGaming from $180 if what you actually need is a new commercial placement. Reclaiming a dead gambling blog is usually a no. Adult, CBD, and crypto stay Enquire Now. International lists need language and market, not a global English mail-merge. A strategist replies within 24 hours. Phone 1 800 751 994. Email support@worldwidebacklinks.com.
If the honest job after the cleanup is new editorial URLs, leave this page and use the guest-post dual path — order a packaged English band or quote a mix. This URL stays Enquire Now because reclamation is not that card. Read unlinked mentions for the mention object. Read digital PR for the newsroom object. Do not ask us to invent a third SKU so the procurement spreadsheet has a “reclaim” cell.
What is worth reclaiming — and what should you leave?
Most of the value is a redirect you own. Outreach is quoted. Farms stay lost on purpose.
| Object | First move | How it is bought here |
|---|---|---|
| Your URL 404s; others still link | Restore or 301 — in-house | Not a SKU |
| Broken site-move map | Fix redirects, then recrawl | Not a SKU |
| Dropped guest post we placed | Replacement on a comparable host | Included on published DR work |
| Unlinked mention on a real host | One specific ask, or log it | Quoted outreach — Enquire Now |
| Newsroom story you do not have yet | That is digital PR, not reclaim | Enquire on digital PR |
| Farm / PBN / comment spam | Leave it lost | We will not reclaim it |
| Need a new editorial URL | Stop calling it reclamation | English GP $125–$450 on that desk |
| Monthly reclaim retainer | Theatre | We will not sell it |
Common questions
Do you sell a link-reclamation package?
No. There is no reclamation SKU and no English guest-post row for it. In-house first. Outreach is quoted on Digital PR.
Should I fix 404s before I buy new links?
Yes. A new guest post pointing at a 404 is a wasted fee. Restore or redirect, then order or quote on the guest-post desk.
Will you turn unlinked mentions into backlinks?
Sometimes we will quote a specific ask. We will not run a mention-to-dofollow quota. See [unlinked mentions](/guides/unlinked-mentions).
If a guest post you placed is removed, is that reclamation?
No. That is a replacement on a comparable host — included on published DR work. Typical original TAT about two weeks, 20-day maximum.
Can agencies white-label reclamation?
There is no reclamation SKU to wrap. White-label applies to placements we actually make. We will not invent a reclaim PDF product.
Is the $1,500 monthly package a reclaim desk?
No. SKU 2R60XR is a scoped guest-post desk, not a 404-hunting retainer and not a mention quota.
What service do I pick on the quote form?
Digital PR when the job is a mention or a journalist-shaped ask. Guest Posts when you actually need a new placement. Mix if you are unsure.
