An anchor-ratio tool, here, is a calculator you run in the browser. You type how many live links you already have in each class. Worldwide Backlinks will show the share. We will flag when exact + partial exceeds a 40% rule of thumb we use internally on audits — not because Google published that number, but because exact-match-heavy vendor reports are a pattern we keep seeing on junk profiles. This is not a ranking model. It will not tell you that 12.4% branded “wins.” If you need new links, English guest posts from $125 include the anchor we actually placed, on the report. If you inherited a toxic mix, quote a link audit. Typical placement TAT about two weeks. The calculator is instant.
Anchor-text ratio calculator
Count the live links you already have. This is a mix check — not a ranking formula and not a “safe %” we invented. Exact-match-heavy profiles are a common spam pattern. We still quote placements; we do not promise a SERP from a ratio.
| Type | Count | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Branded | 8 | 44.4% |
| Exact match | 1 | 5.6% |
| Partial / phrase | 3 | 16.7% |
| Generic / naked | 4 | 22.2% |
| Other | 2 | 11.1% |
| Total | 18 | 100% |
This mix is not exact-match heavy on the 40% rule of thumb we use internally. Still not a ranking promise.
What the classes mean
Branded: your name, product, or URL-as-brand. Exact match: the money keyword as the whole anchor. Partial / phrase: keyword plus filler. Generic / naked: “click here,” the raw URL, “website.” Other: images, brand+keyword leftovers, language you cannot bucket cleanly.
Over-optimised exact match was a 2012 story and is still a 2026 vendor habit. We prefer branded and partial on YMYL and on anything that looks like a money page. We still will not print a “Google wants 17% exact” table. Anyone selling that table is selling folklore.
The calculator does not fetch your backlinks. The backlink checker also will not invent an index. You count what you can see on a report you already trust — or you quote us to bucket it.
iGaming, health, and finance briefs get even more branded. Those verticals stay on their Enquire or quote-first desks. Do not use this toy to justify exact-match casino anchors at $125.
Who should run the mix check
You have a vendor export
Tally the anchors. If exact is loud, stop buying that class before you add more.
You are briefing new guest posts
Tell us branded vs partial on the quote. We will not stuff exact to hit a folklore %.
You meant DA or RD counts
Different tools. This one is only mix.
How to use it without cargo-culting
01
Count live links only
Dropped URLs do not belong in the mix.
02
Bucket honestly
“Best CRM for dentists” is partial, not branded.
03
Read the 40% flag
A heuristic we use on audits. Not a Google spec.
04
Change buying, not a TXT file
Disavow is last resort. New editorial is the usual fix.
05
Place on the public card
English GP from $125. Anchors reported exactly.
What this page includes
- 01
Client-side counts and percentages
- 02
A 40% exact+partial heuristic (ours, labeled)
- 03
No ranking formula
- 04
No invented backlink index
- 05

- 06
A reminder that YMYL wants more branded
Anchors we will not sell
We will not sell a package of 50 exact-match “best cheap insurance” anchors. Healthcare and insurance stay quote-first with branded defaults. Casino stays on iGaming rates from $180 English.
Naked URL anchors are fine in a natural mix. They are not a loophole to hide exact match in the path.
