Domain Rating vs Domain Authority: neither score is Google

Ahrefs Domain Authority is the wrong name — Ahrefs calls it Domain Rating (DR). Moz calls its score Domain Authority (DA). Neither is a Google ranking factor. Worldwide Backlinks prices English guest posts by Ahrefs DR and still QC organic traffic in DataForSEO. A high badge on a dead site does not ship.

What is Domain Rating versus Domain Authority?

Domain Rating is Ahrefs’ 0–100 score for the strength of a site’s backlink profile. Domain Authority is Moz’s 0–100 score for a similar idea. They are third-party models. They are not Google PageRank, not a Search Console metric, and not a promise that a URL will rank. People mash the names because both are three-letter badges on sales PDFs.

We price the public English guest-post card by Ahrefs DR bands: DR20+ $125, DR30+ $175, DR40+ $250, DR50+ $275, DR70+ $450. That is a packaging axis so buyers can compare rows. It is not “Google thinks this site is a 40.” Moz DA can disagree with Ahrefs DR on the same host. That disagreement is normal. It is not a QC fail by itself.

If you need the “what number is good” essay, use what is a good Domain Rating. This page is the DR vs DA mechanic. The five English bands also live on pricing. You can order DR30+ at $175, DR40+ at $250, or DR50+ at $275, or send the same brief on the quote form. Dual path stays open. A DR70 badge on a site with no readers is still a badge. We will not ship it.

Why do you price by DR if it is not Google?

Because buyers already brief in DR and the card has to be public. A locked table beats a custom quote for every DR37. We still will not ship a DR50 badge on a site with no organic traffic. DataForSEO is the spam and traffic check before a host is approved. Ahrefs and Semrush appear as metrics, not as clients.

DR30+ at $175 (SKU 6RZX7J), DR40+ at $250 (QJE1WN), and DR50+ at $275 (PNKO6R) are the middle of the card — the bands most mixed campaigns actually use. You can order those in the portal or quote a mix. Dual path stays open. International guest posts use their own DR-shaped table from $175 because the work is native-language, not because Google invented a foreign DR.

Niche edits sit about 20% under the matching guest-post row and are quote-only. iGaming is a different table from $180. Wikipedia, adult, CBD, and crypto stay Enquire Now. None of those products become cheaper because Moz DA looks friendlier than Ahrefs DR. The monthly package ($1,500, SKU 2R60XR) is a scoped desk, not a way to stack DR badges without looking at hosts. Hard niches do not get a vanity DR menu. Casino stays on iGaming. Digital PR is quoted because a newsroom is not a DR band.

Can I buy DA instead of DR?

You can ask us to prefer hosts that also look reasonable in Moz. You cannot buy a Moz DA SKU here. There is no DA40 product. If a brief says “DA50+ only,” we will translate that into hosts that pass traffic QC and sit in a comparable Ahrefs band — or we will say the inventory is thin.

Chasing one badge is how people buy expired-domain magazines. The leftover DR or DA on a dead domain is not a publication. SpamBrain does not care which SaaS painted the number. Open the site. Look at landing pages. Look at outbound. That is the vet a guest-post site checklist.

rel=sponsored on the live URL is independent of DR and DA. We report the attribute. We do not inflate a score to make a sponsored mark look followed. SpamBrain devalues the farm layer whether the badge is DR or DA. A high score on an expired-domain magazine fails the same way. Open the archive. If the site exists to sell slots, walk away. DataForSEO plus a human still beat a toolbar.

Which metric should you put in a monthly report?

Report the live URL, the destination, the anchor, and the attribute. Then add the metrics your client already uses — often Ahrefs DR and estimated traffic, sometimes Semrush. If the client lives in Moz, add DA. Do not pick the higher number and hide the other.

White-label reports can omit our brand and still carry that field list. Same public rates. See white-label guest posts for agencies. We will not put Ahrefs or Moz logos on the PDF as if they retained us.

Rankings belong in Search Console and rank trackers, not in a DR column. A jump in DR after five guest posts is a model moving. It is not a ranking win we will invent. We do not guarantee positions, featured snippets, or AI Overview citations. Classic SERPs still use links. Answer engines lean more on mentions and entities. Neither fact turns DA into a Google export. A useful report is boring: destination, live URL, DR, traffic, anchor, followed or sponsored, status.

How do DR and DA fail as buying filters?

They fail when you sort a marketplace catalogue by DR and add to cart. That is how you buy the same slot fifty other SEOs bought. They fail when a new site has a residual score from an old domain. They fail when a site’s DR is real and its outbound graph is a storefront.

Google’s link-spam policy and SpamBrain care about patterns and low-value hosts. A “DR70” farm is still a farm. A “DA20” city publication with readers can still be the right host for a local URL. Traffic QC is why we will refuse a pretty badge.

Typical TAT about two weeks, 20-day maximum on standard DR work, replacement if the link drops. The badge does not change the operations clock. Owned inventory (~500 sites) is used only when it honestly fits a brief. It is not a hidden network we dress up as independent DR. Third-party editorial is still the default. Google’s link-spam policy cares about patterns and low-value hosts. A “DR70” farm is still a farm. A quieter DR site with real readers can still be the right placement.

What should a first order look like if you are metric-led?

Pick the destination URL. Pick a band that matches the site’s age and the SERP — often DR30 or DR40, not DR70 on a six-month domain. Order 6RZX7J, QJE1WN, or PNKO6R, or quote the mix. If the page is finance or legal YMYL, expect fewer hosts and a quote-first conversation.

If you only have a Moz export, send it. We will not pretend we can map every DA to a DR row. We will tell you what we can place.

Founded 2022, Richmond. 100% manual. 15+ languages. No invented “DR equals rankings” slide. If you already know the DR band, order it. Mixes, niche edits, iGaming, and anything that is not a packaged English guest post stay on the quote form. For the “is this DR high enough” question, use the sibling. For the buy path, stay on guest posts or pricing.

Does a higher Domain Rating mean a better guest post?

No. A higher Ahrefs Domain Rating means Ahrefs scored a thicker backlink graph. It does not mean more readers, a tighter topic, or a cleaner outbound profile. A DR70 farm is still a farm. A DR30 city publication with traffic can still be the right host.

That is why DataForSEO sits next to the badge. Spam and toxic outbound patterns fail before we pitch. You still approve the class of site. Named hosts land after go-live. Moz Domain Authority can sit on the report if your client lives in Moz. It still does not become a SKU. Google still does not use either number.

Order DR30+ at $175, DR40+ at $250, or DR50+ at $275 when those bands match the destination. Quote when they do not. Read what is a good Domain Rating for age and band context. Buy the host, not the toolbar.

Domain Rating vs Domain Authority

Two third-party scores. One search engine that uses neither. We price the public card by Ahrefs DR and still QC the host in DataForSEO before a domain is approved. A high badge on a dead site does not ship.

Common questions

Is Domain Rating a Google ranking factor?

No. Ahrefs DR is a third-party model. We use it to package prices. Google does not publish DR. Treating it as “what Google thinks” is a category error marketplace carts rely on.

Is Domain Authority a Google ranking factor?

No. Moz DA is a third-party model. We do not sell DA bands.

Why are your prices in DR if DA is popular too?

The public card has to pick one axis. Buyers already brief in Ahrefs DR. We still look at traffic before a host is approved.

Can I order a DA50 guest post?

There is no DA SKU. Send the brief. We will place on hosts that pass QC and sit in a comparable DR band, or we will say no.

Which SKUs sit in the middle of the card?

DR30+ $175 (6RZX7J), DR40+ $250 (QJE1WN), DR50+ $275 (PNKO6R). Content included. 20-day maximum TAT.

Does a higher DR mean a better link?

Not by itself. A high-DR farm is still a farm. Traffic and topical fit beat a badge. We price the card by DR so invoices compare. We QC the host so the URL is defensible. See the good-DR guide for age and band context.
