Quoted listings

Directory submissions on listings people still use

Directory submissions, in 2026, are either a precise local or industry listing — or they are spam. Worldwide Backlinks only quotes the first kind. There is no $99 directory package on the guest-post grid, no 500-site blast, and no “web 2.0 + bookmark” bundle. You tell us the business, the geo, and the category. We quote specific directories that still have traffic and a reason to list you. DataForSEO QC still applies. If a listing is pulled, we replace it. Enquire Now — this is not English GP $125.

What a directory submission is when it is not a blast

A directory is a site whose main job is to list other businesses or resources: a city chamber, a regulated-industry register, a professional association, a well-known local listing product, a niche index that still ranks for category queries. Submission means we complete the listing properly — categories, NAP consistency where it matters, a description that is not keyword stuffing — and we confirm the live URL.

That is a different object from the 2006 SEO product called “directory submissions,” which meant firing your URL at hundreds of free directories that existed to collect links. Those sites are now either gone, penalised, or still selling packages to people who have not looked at their own referring-domain report. We will not recreate that product under a cleaner headline.

Because the right directories are specific to a city, a licence, or a vertical, we do not publish a DR table for them. Guest posts have a grid because the unit of work is comparable. A Richmond cafe and a Malta-licensed casino do not belong on the same directory SKU. Wikipedia, adult, CBD, crypto, and custom work are Enquire Now for similar reasons. Directories sit on that quoted side of the house.

The surrounding agency is still a white-hat link desk founded in 2022 by Callum Sherwood: 10,000+ backlinks placed, 15+ languages, 40+ countries, 100% manual outreach on editorial products, teams in Australia, Singapore, and the Philippines. Directory work borrows the QC habit, not the guest-post price list. Ahrefs and Semrush can describe a directory’s domain; they cannot tell you whether the listing page is a junk folder of 10,000 outbound links. We look at that page.

Who should quote directory submissions

Local businesses that need real registers

Chambers, tourism boards, professional licences, city guides that residents use. The listing supports Maps and brand searches as much as it supports a link graph.

Operators in regulated or association-heavy niches

If your industry has a directory that customers already trust, being absent is the problem. We will not substitute a random “SEO directory” with a similar name.

Agencies that refuse blast vendors

You can keep the client-facing story honest: a handful of relevant listings, quoted, replaceable — not 400 URLs in a spreadsheet your analyst has to hide.

How a quoted directory job runs

  1. 01

Inventory the listings that match the entity

Geo, category, language, and any licence numbers. We propose a shortlist with a reason for each site, not a count of submissions.

  2. 02

Vet the listing page, not just the domain

A strong domain can still host a /links/ dump. We QC the page you would actually appear on. Fail that, we cut it from the quote.

  3. 03

    Submit with accurate entity data

Manual forms, supporting documents when a chamber asks for them, descriptions written for humans. No automated submitters.

  4. 04

Live URL, index report, replace if pulled

You get the listing URL. We submit indexing and report status. If the directory removes you, we replace on a comparable agreed listing — not with three spam directories to “make up the number.”

What a directory quote is meant to cover

  1. 01

A shortlist of relevant directories — not a blast list

  2. 02

Manual submission with accurate business details

  3. 03

QC of the listing page (traffic, outbound hygiene, topical fit)

  4. 04

    Live URL delivery

  5. 05

    Indexing submitted and reported

  6. 06

Replacement if an agreed listing is pulled

Why we will not sell 500 directories

Volume directory packages train your profile to look like 2008. They also train your team to stop looking at URLs. The moment a vendor is paid per submission instead of per relevant listing, the incentive is to find empty shells. Our incentive on quoted work is to keep the shortlist short enough that you will actually click it.

Editorial links still do the heavy ranking work for most commercial pages. If you came here because guest posts felt expensive, look at the published table anyway: English guest posts start at $125, niche edits at $99. A relevant article is often a better spend than a stack of listings. Directories are complementary — local entity, category confirmation, a few strong registers — not a substitute for outreach. City-level service businesses often need local SEO backlinks rather than a national directory dump.

~500 owned sites in our wider network are not “our directory package.” We will not submit you to a house list of micro-directories and call it citations. If a listing we recommend is a property we publish, that will be obvious in the quote, not buried.

Published USD rates

No monthly minimum. The quote form on this page prefills the service. Wikipedia, adult, CBD, crypto, and directories are Enquire Now. Full tables live on pricing.

Quoted to the brief. Same white-hat QC. White-label uses the published rates plus branded reports — no extra SKU.

Quoted relevant listings vs spam directory packages

If the sales page boasts a number of directories, it is probably the product we refuse. The contrast is the number of URLs versus the number of reasons.

Directories versus guest posts, digital PR, and Wikipedia

Guest posts: unique article, contextual link, DR grid, ~2 week TAT. Directories: listing format, quoted, timeline depends on the registrar. Digital PR: newsworthy angle, journalist or newsroom, also quoted. Wikipedia: encyclopedic notability, nofollow, also quoted, no forever-live promise. Mixing these on one invoice is fine. Mixing them in one methodology is how briefs get confused. Enquire on the quote form; directory submissions is preselected.

International directories follow the same rule as international guest posts: local language, local entity. A US citation site does not help a Japanese-language money page. We have native-language capability in 15+ languages on the editorial side; directory quotes should specify the country, not “global submissions.” Australian registers often sit next to the Australia geo brief because the company is in Richmond VIC.

Talk to Richmond: Building 1, 658 Church Street, VIC 3121. 1 800 751 994. support@worldwidebacklinks.com. Typical editorial TAT does not bind a chamber of commerce’s approvals committee — we will say so on the quote rather than invent a 20-day guarantee the directory cannot meet.

Questions people actually search

Are directory submissions still good for SEO?

A few relevant, trafficked, well-maintained listings can support local and brand SEO. Hundreds of spam directories can stain a profile. We only quote the first kind.

How much do directory submissions cost?

Enquire Now. There is no DR20 $125 directory row. Price depends on which registers apply and whether they charge inclusion fees we have to pass through.

Do you submit to the same 400 directories for every client?

No. That is the product we will not sell. Each quote is a shortlist with a reason.

Will you guarantee the listing stays live forever?

No. Directories change rules. If an agreed listing is pulled, we replace it. Forever-live is not a claim we make on Wikipedia either.

Can directories replace guest posts?

Usually not for competitive commercial queries. Use guest posts ($125–$350 English) or niche edits ($99–$280) for editorial context. Use directories for entity and category listings.

Do you handle international directories?

We can quote them if you specify the country and language. We will not fire global English citations at a non-English money page.

Is this white-hat?

Relevant manual listings, yes. Mass directory spam, no. Same desk standards as the rest of the agency: manual, inspectable, replaceable.
